Summer on the Patio

SUMMER ON THE PATIO

It all started June 1st when Rocky and Jeff opened #WingsAndStrings on the south patio with a tribute to Gregg Allman. We knew this was going to be a great summer for music and for friends and families (and even for a few dogs).

We wanted to amplify the music this summer by posting live feeds on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. In case you missed it, check out our new YouTube playlist for Wings and Strings.

#WingsAndStrings has been a special addition to the South location patio for owners Lauren and Rich Cundiff. They share a love music with their early partner at the Patton Avenue location – Mr. Rocky Lindsley himself. Rich and Lauren’s son Aidan is an accomplished guitarist and the Cundiffs have spent a lot of years involved in Aidan’s musical education. In fact, they are downright passionate about musical education.

We started talking about how to foster young talent and bring more live music to Rocky’s and that’s how Bluegrass Brunch on Sundays got started. If you’ve missed the performances this summer, you can still catch a Sunday Bluegrass Brunch this Sunday (9/3) from 1:30 – 3:30 with Jonah Riddle and Carolina Express.

Here’s a sample of Jonah Riddle (18) on banjo and guitar, Grayson Riddle (13) on guitar, their dad Benjie Riddle on upright bass, and Rhiannon Ramsey (13) of Rhiannon and the Relics on fiddle.

We wanted to give these young musicians a venue to perform and we’ve been incredibly grateful that they’ve shared their talent with us and our customers.  Please check out other young performers from the summer:

Bailee Brandon with her grandfather Jerry Sutton

Lillian and Sara Nell Chase

Rhiannon and the Relics

Grab any opportunity you get to see these kids play! We have a YouTube playlist for them as well – Bluegrass on the Patio.
